· What is the UMass Marketing Club?

o The Marketing Club is an SOM affiliated student organization which seeks to offer unique networking, community service, and career development opportunities to its members, but most of all it’s about having fun.

· When is the next meeting?

o Join our mailing list & check the website for the next general meeting information. Not on the mailing list, email us at: UMassMktgClub@gmail.com and join our facebook group: UMass Marketing Club.

o The general meetings are open to ALL INTERESTED STUDENTS and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. The general meetings give a glimpse of the exciting events we have in store for the coming semester, as well as an opportunity to join the club and select a committee to join if you are interested. Bring a friend or come and make some!

· Do I need to major in marketing in order to join?

o No! The marketing club is for anyone who is interested regardless of major or year. The experiences and tools you will gain through participation in the club are universally applicable to everyone, as most careers integrate knowledge and skills learned in the club.

· How do I join?

o New members are accepted any time of the year. Interested students can either join at a meeting, club fair, or by e-mailing UMassMktgClub@gmail.com. They will then be added to the email list to receive updates and be eligible to go on trips.

· How often does the club meet?

o The marketing club makes the most of each meeting since we will only meet approximately three to four times a semester. It does not meet weekly like some other SOM clubs do. Instead, the club strives to put together three or four major events each semester.

· Do I have to come to events?

o Yes and No. Participation in club activities is highly encouraged because events are relatively seldom, typically one every 2-4 weeks, and moreover they are organized for your benefit. Furthermore, busy professionals have taken time out of their lives to come and speak to us, and if attendance is poor for their presentation it reflects poorly on the Marketing Club and they may not want to come back. That being said, we believe our end of the bargain is to provide engaging events which warrant your time and which you want to come to. We understand that everyone has hectic schedules and that unexpected obstacles do arise, however suffice it to say that we do our best and hope to receive the same from our members.

· How do these events help me?

o You will gain first hand knowledge about the field of marketing and business in general. You will strengthen your network of professional and academic connections, as well as potentially gain a foothold into a career with any of the businesses that come to speak. These events give you an advantage over everyone else because you have the chance to make a face to face impression on potential contacts. Many of our previous members have found internships or full-time jobs through their interactions with the club. Furthermore, you will learn from the knowledgeable, accomplished business leaders we search out whose experiences will provide you with valuable insight and understanding about the business world.

· Can I serve on a committee? Can I change committees?

o Members are encouraged, but of course not required, to join a committee and are free to change or leave committees at any time. The Marketing Club is divided into five distinct committees; membership, community service, web development, public relations, and fundraising. Please see our club charter and vision statement for a brief description about each committee.

· Does the marketing club look good on my resume?

o Of course it does! Participation in the UMass Marketing Club shows prospective employers that you want to do more than just coast through your classes, that you have personal drive, and the maturity to take the initiative. You become more knowledgeable about the professional world and will have more detailed and relevant experiences to share. Of course, if you put on your resume that you are in the Marketing Club, make sure you have enough to talk about for several minutes, and furthermore that you can relate your experiences back to how they aided in your personal and professional development.

· Where can I learn more?

There is a good amount of information including what’s new, a schedule of events, the structure of the club with a list of contacts, and more about the club at http://www.umassmarketingclub.com You can also email us or you can simply come to one of the meetings or events and talk to us in person. We hope to hear from you!
